Description of Event: The Xeriscape Garden Tour will be featuring a Firewise property. To show support for the local Firewise efforts, USAA will partner with the local fire department, providing food/drinks and will be holding a drawing for gift certificates to local nurseries.
FIREWISE HOME
This Firewise home illustrates a native landscaped property that is in compliance with defensible space requirements of the State of California and San Bernardino County's new defensible space ordinance. The majority of the shrubs and trees on this property are native. Native trees include Pinion, Jeffery Pine, California Black Oak, Mountain Mahogany, and Western Juniper.
Representatives from Forest Care, Cal Fire, and Big Bear City Fire Department personnel will be on hand, along with arborist and Forest Fuels Program coordinator, David Yegge of Big Bear Lake Fire District. They will provide information on creating a Firewise landscape around your home.
USAA Insurance will also be present, and will provide information on making your home and property fire safe. They will be sponsoring a drawing for several gift certificates to the local nurseries. The gift certificates are valued from $100 to $250 and can be used by the winners to create their own Firewise landscaping. Additionally, USAA will be providing refreshments. So, stop by, see the beautiful native landscape. Drop your name in the fire boot to have chance at winning one of the gift certificates, and oh yes have lunch at the same time, compliments of USAA insurance.
