Backyards & Beyond 2006

The second National Wildland/Urban Interface Fire Education Conference was held in November 2006 in Denver, Colorado, and attracted a diverse audience from around the country and the world, including people from 39 U.S. states as well as Australia, Canada and South Africa.

In addition to nearly 100 speakers and staff, participants included federal, state and local government agencies; community planners; fire and emergency operations staff; insurance professionals; landscape architects; more than 40 local residents representing Firewise Communities; state Firewise liaisons; urban and community foresters; private consultants; and representatives of numerous tribal organizations, Fire Safe Councils, Cooperative Extension Services, universities, research institutions and code organizations.
