Calendar photo contest The search is on to find 15 photos that will ultimately become the pages of the 2014 Firewise calendar. Your photo could become the front or back cover, or one of the thirteen months included in the calendar. Photos need to highlight community residents participating in Firewise activities.

Two-day Home Ignition Zone workshops scheduled for fall months Learn to assess and reduce the risk of wildfire in wildland/urban interfaces, forests and grasslands. Participate in exercises and collaborative sessions. Workshops will be held September - November. Potential attendees include fire service professionals to foresters, developers, planners, insurance practitioners and anyone interested in reducing their wildfire risk.

Research Foundation releases wildfire regulatory and planning study “Addressing Community Wildfire Risk: A Review and Assessment of Regulatory and Planning Tools,” a new study released by the Fire Protection Research Foundation, concludes collaboration, outreach and education programs are needed to achieve the greatest impact in reducing community wildfire risk.
