Arkansas Community Stories

Located in a valley southeast of Waldron in Scott County, the community of 250 is located in a valley surrounded by mountainous country that is managed by the USDA-Forest Service.



The 250 Volunteer Fire Department was introduced to the Firewise program in 2003; firefighters attended their first Firewise meeting then. They quickly learned how valuable it would be to the 250 community. Firewise representatives have taught volunteer firefighters how to maintain homes and property in a fashion that will lessen the probability of loss during a wildland fire.

The 250 Volunteer Fire Department scheduled several Firewise community projects and plans to obtain further equipment to aid in fighting wildland fires.
